Imo State-based entertainers comprising members of the state branch of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Musicians, Masters of Ceremony (MC), Disk Jokeys (DJS) and dancers recently had a successful meeting with the Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha, at the Government House Owerri.
This is because they received an assurance from the governor that a committee has been set up for the disbursement of N100 million revolving loan to empower Imo-based entertainers.
He lamented the plight of the group; especially the up-coming ones who have difficulties in shooting their films or organizing shows owing to paucity of funds and hoped the loan would be a source of great assistance and advised them to utilize them well when they receive them.
Governor Okorocha stressed the need for the entertainers to change their life-style and to be always humble.
“There is power in humility”, he posited, adding that entertainment is where the world is going now as he urged them to imbibe patience which he described as the secret of success.
In their remarks, the ACON chairman, Mr Umez Chibueze and the chairman of Imo Comedians, Mr Christopher Osuji, pledged their willingness to work with the Imo State government if given the opportunity, adding that they are as good as their colleagues from outside.
They called on the government to establish a film village in the state to help generate revenue for the government.
