Pension arrears Our plight is pitiable – IBC pensioners

An enlarged executive committee of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) Pensioners Association rose from a meeting recently to declare that the pension arrears owed them was the highest in the state, having amounted to 36 months.
In a communiqué which they issued at the end of the meeting, the IBC pensioners also lamented the non-payment of gratuities of retirees in the past 10 years.
They stated that the situation has not only inflicted untold hardship on hundreds of the retirees but also led to the untimely death of many.
They, however, congratulated the staff and management of the IBC for commencing  a 24-hour broadcasting on daily basis and called on government to provide facilities to sustain the operations, which include regular payment of staff salaries and other operational costs.
The communiqué was signed by the chairman of the association, Chidi Madu and the Public Relations Officer (PRO),  Sir Emma Onumah.
