Fathers urged to erect family altars

Christian fathers have been counseled to establish altars in their homes for daily family prayers as they are priests in their various homes.
The evangelist in change of All saints Anglican Church Umunahu Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo state, bro. Samuel John gave the advise last Sunday while preaching the sermon at the service to mark this year’s father’s Day celebration with the theme: “Where are the men”.
The preacher remarked that men were being sought for by God as He created man in his own image and would not won’t him to get lost in spiritual activities. He noted that women were taking the upper hand in religions activities and called on the men to come back and take their rightful positions in both the family, church and society so as to win more souls for Christ.
Evangelist John urged the se who have fallen in their faith to amend their ways and return to God like the biblical Paul who changed for Jesus and was blessed.
He assured then of God’s forgivingness if they repented. Earlier in the bible study session, the wife of the church teachers, Mrs Chinedu John, who conducted the class, warned the men against lust for woman, idolatry, fornication drunkenness, hypocrisy, ignorance of God’s ways and other anti-social behavious that not glorify God, stressing the need for them to be a role model by living a religious life worthy of emulation by their children.
She also urged them to give more attention to their families like the biblical job, rather than Abimalech whose life style brought curse to the family.
In the service conducted by lay reader Uzomah Anozie, Sir Chris Ahumibe read the first lesson while Onyekachi Anozie handled the second lesson.
The occasion featured song renditions by the fathers and church choir, recitation and cutting of the cake by the fathers.
