Nigeria’s unity is negotiable – Archbishop Chukwuma

From Emma Uwanekezi Enugu

The out-spoken Archbishop and Bishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Dr. Emmanuel O. Chukwuma (OON), has declared that the unity of Nigeria as a nation is negotiable.
Archbishop Chukwuma was speaking at the end of the Bi-Annual Enugu Diocesan Women’s Conference, recently at Christ’s Church Uwani, Enugu.
“Nigeria is having a problem and whoever that says Nigeria will not be good, it will not be good for him. How can one say the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable. I say here that the unity of Nigeria is negotiable,” he declared, adding: “we lost over one trillion naira on a three-day holiday searching for the moon without an apology to the nation, when Christians will celebrate their Christmas, we will demand they take three days holidays searching for the star.”
The prelate lamented that today a bag of rice is N18,000 which is the same amount as the minimum wage.
“Minimum wage is N18,000 and a bag of rice is N18,000, who is fooling who?” he asked.
Preaching a sermon on the conference theme tagged, “THOUGH IT TARRIES, WAIT FOR IT BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME” Habakkuk 2:3, he pointed out that one of the major ingredients for “waiting” is “Faith”, others are patience and endurance. Those who wait patiently for the Lord shall find Him. He mentioned the woman with the issue of blood, who waited patiently for 12 years until faith led her to touch the garment of Jesus Christ and the issue of her blood came to an end.
He also quoted Mark 9 vs 14, the man whose son from birth was convulsing, but whose faith made his son well. If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. If you must tarry, you must not be faithless. Come to Jesus with the faith that HE can do it. If you do not believe, it will tarry.
The conference was wrapped up with a thanksgiving, fund raising, presentation of Bishop’s wife nominees and honouring of mothers of Honour, which was held at the refurbished Christ’s Church, last Sunday.
The first lesson  taken from the book of the Old Testament  was read by the wife of the Bishop, Dr. Mrs. Joyce N. Chukwuma (Mama Province and Diamond Mummy), while the second lesson was taken from the book of the New Testament, first Peter 1:3-12 was read by Mrs. Karen O. Onoh.
Intercessory prayers were said as directed by the archbishop.
The bishop’s wife, who is also the President MU, WG, and GG Enugu Diocese, presented Bishop’s wife nominees. There was also investiture of mothers of honour.
Glowing tributes were paid to the special guests of honour who graced the occasion, and they include, the deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs. Ezilo, wife of the speaker of Enugu house of Assembly, wives of the chairmen of Enugu North, Igboeze South, Nkanu West, Ezeagu, Udenu and Isi-Uzo Local Government.
