Robbers, kidnappers, take over Port Harcourt Owerri Road

Travellers who use the Port Harcourt – Owerri Road have called on the Federal Government to deploy high powered security agencies to the road to check incessant robberies and kidnapping that occur on the road.
Reports reaching Christian Voice said that not less than five robbery incidents are recorded weekly on the road, signaling a need to apply the same measures which brought the same situation on the Abuja – Kaduna route under control.
The regular users of the road have resorted to going through Aba, a longer and more tortuous route from Owerri to Port Harcourt.
The dreaded axis on the Owerri – Port Harcourt road include Elele – Isiokpo bypass, and the Omarelu-Ubima area where the hoodlums capitalized on the  lonely nature of the road to rob motorists.
According to the road users, they had discovered that far less incidents are recorded on the Imo side of the federal highway.
