Palpable fear has gripped the people of Amaeke village and its environs in Atta West Autonomous Community, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, following discoveries of corpses dumped in obscure locations in the area.
Reports also have it that strange occurrence being experienced at odd hours in the vicinity have added up to scare the daylights out of the people’s eyes.
Speaking to Christian Voice on the latest incidence which was third in the series of the unholy episodes, an eye witness said that two palm fruit cutters on top of the tree had sighted two young girls who came to carry the palm fruits running helter-skelter in the bush, and suspected that something must have gone amiss.
According to him, when they climbed down and moved towards the direction where the two girls ran away from, they discovered to their horror a decomposing, unidentified lifeless body of a woman, suspected to be in her prime, and with her vital parts removed, including her two eye balls and a breast, adding that the other breast was found on the ground.
The sight, according to the witness, attracted the villagers who were totally bewildered, and invariably were advised to report to the relevant authorities.
When Christian Voice called at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Iho and the Imo State police Headquarters, Owerri, both the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) incharge of Ikeduru Division, CSP, Babatunde Jimi and the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Andy Enwerem said that they where yet to be communicated.
But the police authority confirmed that they were investigating the mystery behind the dumping of a casket containing a dead man along Atta – Owerri road in the same vicinity.
According to source, a casket containing an unidentified dead man, also in his prime, was found a fortnight ago, beside a new generation church along Atta-Owerri road. No one knew who dumped it.
The source which described the scenarios as a mystery said that the dead man was well-embalmed well-dressed and neatly placed inside, adding that the police were immediately alerted who came and removed the casket.
Both the Ikeduru police Division and the state command confirmed the mysterious episode and said that investigation is still on.
In addition, a member of a local Vigilante who also spoke to Christian Voice on the condition of anonymity said that recently while they were keeping watch around a former shoe factory in the same area, they spotted about six young men carrying a casket and making some incantation over it.
According to him, all of a sudden, fire broke out and the casket was utterly consumed and the six young men disappeared .
The witness said that these bizarre incidents have left the entire community confused.
Many who spoke to Christian Voice alleged ritual murder, especially among young men and women who have been complaining of the present harsh economic situation.
A community leader in the area who also would not want his name mentioned, simply told Christian Voice, the doomsday is right here now.”
