FG asked to disarm rampaging Fulani herdsmen

President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to immediately disarm the rampaging  Fulani herdsmen.
The Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) made the call recently in his opening address at the Church of Nigeria Standing Committee Meeting held at Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka, Anambra State.
The Anglican Prelate  also made a passionate appeal to militants in the Niger Delta to stop the bombing of oil facilities in the region as shutting down the economy will not address their grievances.
“Shutting down the economy is like pulling down the roofs with all us inside; nobody will escape the negative impact” he argued.
The Archbishop counseled President Buhari to convene a meeting between the government and militants to address their grievances
On the menace of Fulani herdsmen, the Standing Committee noted that “the presence of herdsmen in our countryside is not new.  What is, however, new is the unprovoked attacks on their host communities” which the herdsmen sometimes justified by alleging that their cows were missing.
The Archbishop was not happy that the Fulani herdsmen lay ambush and waylay people going to their farms, rape women and destroy their hosts’ farms with the hosts helpless as the herdsmen are armed.
He, therefore, called on the president to immediately, disarm the herdsmen as their activities have affected the peace of the country.
