From Emma Uwanekezi, Enugu
The Archdeacon of Emmanuel (Ang.) Church, Achara Layout, Enugu, Ven. Ginika Benneth Ezeabii, recently held a thanksgiving service to mark the 25th anniversary of his wedlock with his wife, Dr Ijeoma Chimeruo Ezeabii.
Performing the ceremony which also involved the renewal of marriage vows, the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and the Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, said the occasion was to praise and worship God for the couple who have had 25 years of successful wedlock.
The Archbishop stated further, “this is a renewal of marriage vows and therefore we thank God who so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it represented the spiritual unity between Christ and His Church”.
He also prayed to God to “send your blessings upon Ginika and Ijeoma who have come to renew their promises to each other and grant them your grace that they may sow love, honour and cherish each other in fulfillment and patience, in wisdom through Godliness”.
In his responses, Ven Ezeabii thanked the Archbishop for finding time to officiate in the thanksgiving anniversary and thanked God for the gift of the Archbishop who he confessed has “stood solidly behind me in all that has led to what I am today “adding that being a beneficiary of the revival of the 80’s I hasten to testify that my life is a testimony to God’s ability to humiliate the wise by raising a nobody like me from grass to grace”.
Ven. Ezeabii thanked Mr Emeka Umeoduagu, Dr David Nwafor, Mr Emeka Ibuadimma and others who made the event a success.
The marriage was solemnised at the former St. Barths’ Cathedral, Asata, Enugu by the late Bishop of Enugu, Rt. Rev. Gideon Otubelu.
Dr Mrs. Ijeoma Ezeabii is a lecturer in the Department of Technology and Vocational Education, Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT), Enugu.
