Cultism claims 5 lives in 4 days

No fewer than four persons have lost their lives through separate cult wars in Owerri metropolis within last week.
Reports reaching Christian Voice said that one of the victims who was shot dead last Thursday had gone to a gambling spot on Mbaise Road, not knowing that he was being targeted.
His rivals gunned him down on the spot before he stepped into the hall.
Another incident took place the following Friday at Amaigbo Street at about 5 p.m., according to eye witnesses.
It was gathered that the victim was walking along the street alone when two boys cornered him, both carrying dangerous weapons.
They brutalized him with axes and stones and finally shot him dead.
Also, on Christ Church Street, same Friday, another death was recorded through a similar process.
On Sunday, three boys armed with guns and axes, waylaid their victim on the same Christ Church, according to eye witness.
Reports also had it that the victim had gone to church and, after the church service, he unknowingly walked into the ambush and was instantly shot dead.
Cult wars had become rampant in recent times in Owerri, prompting the police command in the state to issue a release warning all criminals to flee the state or face the law.
The police, however, could not comment on the latest incidents.
