Trans-Egbu residents stop takeover of open space created by Mbakwe

Youths living in Trans-Egbu Estate, Owerri, Imo State, recently rose stoutly against their perceived plot by some officials of a government corporation to take over an open space located within the estate.
The youths feared that the officials, who were said to have moved some bulldozers into the site to uproot the plants in the lush garden in the space, had in mind to allocate the space to themselves  and some other powerful men in government.
The youths doubted that Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was aware of the move and are, therefore planning to visit the governor to complain to him.
They said that the garden, planted during the Sam Mbakwe administration more than 30 years ago, was a beauty to behold and had been the pride of the estate.
The residents suspected, however, that the Imo State Housing Corporation was behind the move and appealed to the government not to allow the destruction of the beautiful landmark.
