AIFCE Provost commissions PTA projects in Alvana sch.

Projects executed by the Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) of School of Education Demonstration Secondary School (Alvana), Owerri, were recently commissioned by the Provost of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (A.IF.C.E), Owerri, Dr (Mrs) Blessing Ijioma.
Commissioning the projects Dr (Mrs) Ijioma said the management of A.I.F.C.E. was aware of Alvana’s challenges right from inception hence it did its best to equip the school through the provision of 32 classroom blocks and laboratory buildings with the expectation that it would one day grow to a University International Secondary School.
The provost commended the P.T.A. chairman and her team, assuring them of management’s support at all times.
Earlier in her welcome address the  P.T.A. chairman Lady Edith C. Chikwere, noted that the school has recorded   success both in character and learning since inception 22 years ago as she applauded the  students, teachers and management, past and present for the feat achieved  in collaboration with the P.T.A.
She listed some of the challenges facing the school to include non-equipped modern library, computer department, tack of sporting facilities and non-boarding status.
In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Jojo Onwukwe whose four children passed through the school counted himself lucky because his children have excelled in the fields of medicine, engineering and  I.C.T. as he commended the school’s management team, teachers and P.T.A  for making the students the best in the country.
He counseled parents to guide their children and words aright at their early school age since their failure in life would be blamed on them (the parents). Dr. Onwukwe also announced a donation of N100,000 to the best science teacher yearly as well as paying the school fees of four indigent students annually.
The projects commissioned by the visitor on the PTA Cultural Day Celebration of ALVANA included science laboratories, security houses and two new air-conditioned buses.
Other activities to mark the day were lectures on Morality and Etiquette delivered by Ugoeze Mba of Obike, Ngor Okpala, Igbo Traditional Marriage by Eze Barnabas Obirileze with the audience entertained with various traditional dances.
