A philanthropist and community leader, Chief (Dr) Christian Oweaya Anukam (Agbawo Dike Izu), KSM was recently conferred with the prestigious honours award of “Grand Patron” 1 of Chinyere Ugo Age Grade by the association who were on a courtesy visit to his Owerri residence.
According to the group, their action was in recognition of Chief Anukam’s numerous contributions to the development of the age grade and the entire people of Owerri when he was the president general of Owerre Communities Assembly (OCA) as well as now he is the interim president of OCA.
In his reaction, Chief Oweaya expressed gratitude to the Age Grade for honouring him now he is a live even though he is not one of them urging them to also act their own part like he since no one person has the monopoly of service in the communities.
The community leader equally commended some members of Owerri Communities Assembly whose support spurred him to a greater height and urged them to forgive him in areas he did not perform better, or disagreed with them.
He specifically encouraged the age grade president, Sir Ferdinand Emeana for efficient leadership, assuring him to timely election of OCA executive soon.
In his remarks, Sir Emeana poured encomium on Chief Oweaya, and described him as a pace-setter and a worthy son of Owerri who would not allow things to go wrong in their communities before handling them properly. Sir Emeana who is also the general secretary of OCA then enjoined Chief Anukam not to relent in doing good. Others who alleged themselves with the views of Sir Emeana in eulogizing Chief Anukam were the interim secretary of Owerre communities Assembly and the Age Grade president and other Owerri people present at the occasion.
Some dignitaries of Owerre communities were present at the occasion.
