Owerri Diocesan Women Conference ends with thanksgiving

Activities marking the 2016 Owerri Diocesan Women’s Guild Conference were rounded off last Sunday with a thanksgiving service at St. Mark’s (Ang.) Church, Amakohia Owerri, venue of the event.
The four-day event which has its theme as “The Christian family, Godly Parents raising Godly children, started on Thursday, 10, November 2016, and featured Bible study expositions, paper presentations, drama, praise worship and reports of Women activities from various Archdeaconries and units of the Women’s Ministries within the year as well as the presentation of presidential address by the President of Women’s Ministries, Dr (Mrs.) Eunice Okorocha (Mama Owerre).
In his sermon at the service, conducted by the women’s ministries chaplain, Rev. Can. Chris Ogbugh, the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha, PhD, charged Christians not to ignore God but to wait onto Him in their life endevour through fellowship with Him.
He listed three conditions for success in life to include, God’s timing, God’s purpose and God’s fellowship and urged the people to abide by them.
Bishop Okoroch also admonished Christians to shun “miracle” churches, as they stage-manage their visions and miracles, thereby deceiving their followers.  He charged Christians to imbibe the culture of living a meek, humble and simple life in all their endeavours such as marriage, burial and other ceremonies, stressing the need for mothers to emulate the biblical Eunice and Loisa who possess the qualities of “Ezinne” as they started early to train Timothy in a Christian way.
The first lesson drawn from Deut. 6:1-9 was read by Mrs. Ngozi Onyekwelibe while the second lesson from Colossians 3:17-25 was handled by Dr (Mrs) Eunice Okorocha as the Choirs of St. Mark’s Amakohia, St. Luke’s Akwakuma and Nkwa Praise of the Clergy wives performed at the service.
Highlights of the service were the cutting of conference cake and special recognition of some women who distinguished themselves in the service of the Lord in different ways.  They are Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme; Lady Chinyere Oguike and Lady  Nneke Okoronkwo.  The occasion equally featured the conferment of Conference Mothers title on nine exemplary mothers.
