27 new Knights for Ikeduru Diocese

Twenty –seven Anglican faithful in the Diocese of Ikeduru made the honours list as Knights and Dames who were investitured in a colourful ceremony that attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, recently.
Addressing the new knights and dames at the Cathedral Church of St Mathew, Atta, the Bishop of the Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chigozie Maduwike, reminded them of their duties as soldiers of the cross.
He enjoined them to make sacrifice towards building the church of God and the society at large, while also  asking them to Shun evil and work for the propagation of the gospel of Christ.
He thanked those who have contributed significantly to the upliftment of the young diocese, especially Sir Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who undertook to complete the Cathedral complex which is now at advanced stage.
Earlier in a  sermon entitled, “the role of Christian Knights”, the preacher, the Rev Dr Emmanuel Egbule, had enjoined the  Knights to prepare for war.
Drawing from the central theme also entitled “Taking the whole Armour of God (eph. 6:11), Rev Dr Egbule submitted that the present warfare was not of flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers.
He said that as Christian Knights, knights and their Ladies must prepare for war, like the great German reformer, Martin Luther who fought the reformation battle against the devil and his angels, adding that as the present time is riddled with all manner of vanities, knights are expected to rise to the challenges.
He maintained that Christian Knights ought to be skillful in prayers, reading the word of God, contributing to charity and building the church of God, adding that it is not enough going about with the prefix sir and lady, but to rise to the occasion when the need arises.
The event was well attended, with the President of the Ikeduru Council, Sir G.U Ezeji, reading the Epistle, Old testament reading was taken by one of the newly investiture knights, Dr Ikechukwu Iwuagwu, while the service was couducted by the council chaplain, Rev Cannon Charles Mgbemene.
Boys and Girls Brigade added fanfare by marching in the colour party.
