St. Peter’s Church Irete opens new Chapel

The Evangelism conscious St. Peter’s Anglican Parish Irete, last Sunday, held an inaugural service for a new St. Peter’s Chapel at Umueye Irete, in fulfillment of the popular demand for church planting.
The occasion which attracted large turn-out of the people was kick-started with a crusade penultimate Friday, in which worshippers of different denominations participated.
In his remarks at the event, the Vicar in charge, Rev. Kenneth Chikere, expressed gratitude to the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Cyril Okorocha PhD, and wife Dr. Eunice Okorocha as well as the Archdeacon of Orogwe, Ven. D.C.A Oguike, for their support and encouragement.
He commended Rev. Tim Ashama and the entire parishioners for their massive support for the church planting.
The vicar disclosed that the new chapel was the fifth in the series of Anglican Churches in Irete Parish, and urged the inhabitants of the three villages of Umuoba, Umueye and Umuekwune, where the Chapel is sited, to be worshipping there, assuring them of moral and financial support from the mother church.
Highlight of the occasion was a 3fund raising activity for the up keep of the chapel.
Earlier in his sermon, the curate from St. Stephen’s Church Orji, Rev. John Elekwachi called on Christians to consult God in all their endeavours so as to perform according to His purpose since God has plans for His children.
Speaking on the theme of the event, “Good news of great joy,” the preacher noted that the news of the birth of Jesus Christ and the healing of the man with infirmity at the pool of Bethsaida which came unexpectedly were news of great joy and urged Christians to have patience with God who perfects His plans no matter the delay.
Rev. Elekwachi then enjoined the faithful not to patronize fake prophets as God never disappoints His people.
The first lesson from Zecharia 8:1-15 was read by Engr. Emeka Opara while Bro Theo Ejiofor handled the second lesson from Acts 15:1-21 as the Vicar Rev. Kenneth Chikere conducted the service.
