Primate inaugurates new chancellor for Abuja Diocese

The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh has inaugurated Henry Odein Ajumogobia (SAN) the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Abuja and the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.
At the service to mark the inauguration at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja. , Primate Okoh stated that no one is fit to walk with God, but for His grace.
According to him, the Bible reveals that when God calls a person, it is always for a specific purpose and assignment. He pointed out that Christians are not called unto “idleness,” but to a life of service as God’s children. Therefore, he opined that every Christian ought to discharge his or her responsibility as an offering to God.
In his sermon, Primate Okoh noted that the first requirement of Christian leadership is true worship, adding that true worship can be seen in the offering or gift one gives to God. He cited Biblical examples of individuals such as Simon of Cyrene, Joseph of Arimathea, the women and others who offered worthy sacrifices to Jesus during His sojourn on earth, stressing that Christians are not called to be idle. The Cleric advised that when called by God, one should turn to God, rather than run from Him because no one can hide from God. He explained that when one runs to God, one receives strength, forgiveness and grace.
The Primate of all Nigeria Anglican Communion cited the example of Luke in the Bible, who offered his profession as a Medical Doctor to the service of God, explaining that when one offers the little one has to God, He blesses and multiplies it, causing it to be bountiful. He said that anyone who follows God obediently and diligently will never be disappointed or put to shame. Therefore, he urged the congregation not to be one of those who when called to serve, highlight their weaknesses or ask God to send another in their place. Primate Okoh concluded his message with a charge to all who have been called to one service or the other, to trust God who has chosen and called them, to see them through; adding that they will be surprised at the great works God can and will do through them.
The service featured the inauguration and swearing in of Henry Odein Ajumogobia SAN as the Chancellor of the Diocese of Abuja and the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion. He takes over from the Honourable Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, who retired in 2002.
