The event was the just concluded national delegate’s conference of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners held in Kaduna State in which new national officers were elected for another four-year term.
Impeccable sources hinted to Christian Voice that pension crisis between the Imo State pensioners and the state government was at the front burner during the interactive session.
The source said that the national headquarters of the union frowned at what it described as acts designed to frustrate and humiliate the senior citizens who spent their youthful years to ensure the overall development of their states and the country in general. The union pledged to give them its unflinching support and solidarity until their voices were heard by the government.
The election saw the National President of the union, Dr. Abel Afolayan, re-elected for another four-year term.
Others are Chief Dr. Emeka Onwumere and Comrade Godwin Abumisi, re-elected as National Vice President, South East and National Treasurer, respectively.
