Cultists attack school prefects …LG chief condemns act

Ahiazu Mbaise LGA TC Chairman, Chief Cletus Onwuegbule has condemned in strong terms the attack on the Senior Prefect of Comprehensive Secondary School, Oparanadim, Master Daniel Chukwu, and two other senior students, Samuel Amaechi and Ifesinachi Njoku by suspected cultists.
He made the condemnation when he visited Good Hope Hospital, Umumbiri Oparanadim where the injured students are currently on admission.
Chief Onwuegbule, accompanied by the traditional rulers of Umumbiri Oparanadim and Oparanadim autonomous community, Eze Godwin Obasi and Eze Louis Nwokeke, respectively, as well as heads of security agencies, called on parents and guardians to stop their children from cultism and related crimes.
The LG boss patted the police and vigilantes on the back for responding promptly to distress calls and rescuing the injured student victims, when 5-man gang struck with dagger and broken bottles .
Reacting, the school principal, Ugoeze Mary Nnaji said the school has been persistently under attack by suspected cultists and beckoned on government to beef up security around the school and make it more conducive for teaching and learning.
She said the recent invasion came when a female student of the school, (names withheld) from a neighbouring state reported to her guardian that she was disciplined by  the prefect for failing to come out for morning assembly because she claimed it was against her religious faith and the son of her master mobilized four other boys suspected to be from the same state for the attack.
Meanwhile, the female student is helping the police in the investigation and arrest of the 5 youngsters still at large. It could be recalled that last month, April some suspected cultist invaded the school while the students were taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) shooting sporadically into air.
