Umuohii, a sleepy village in the Atta West Autonomous Community, in the Ikeduru Council Area of Imo State was a beehive of activities weekend when dignitaries, relations, in-laws, friends and well-wishers gathered at the country home of Chief and Lolo Uche Uzuegbu (KSC) to witness the traditional wedding ceremony of their daughter, Princess Oluchukwu Herbert Uzuegbu, and her heart-throb, Evang. Kingsley Ohaji.
Evang. Ohaji is a Church Teacher at Jerusalem Anglican Church Portharcourt, while Princess is a final-year English undergraduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka. Kingsley hails from Dim na Nume in Isu, in Nwangele Council Area of Imo State.
The heart-warming event saw the entire Umuohii Village dancing and praising the Lord for the great thing He has done.
Addressing the gathering, a village elder and retired school teacher, Mr. Goddy Nwanesi, described the event as unique and auspicious.
He thanked the parents of Kingsley and Oluchukwu for the upbringing of their children and enjoined them never to relent in giving them useful advice that would shape their future.
He congratulated the couple for their wise and careful choice for one another, reminding them that no union can stand the test of time without God in the centre of its affairs.
He warned the couple to beware of the present worldly attractions and distractions, adding that marriage, as the first institution ordained by God, is meant for holiness and the fear of God.
Also during the formal presentation of Princess to Kingsley, both parents prayed for the couple and enjoined them to see their union as God’s doing.
Sir Uche and wife Rita while blessing the couple charged them to continue to love one another.
Kingsley and Princess described the day as great and memorable. They thanked God for His loving kindness upon them and advised people wanting to marry to have faith in God.
Some personalities present included the former Commissioner of Health in Imo, Dr Edward Ihejirika, former T.C. Chairman, Ikeduru Council Area, Hon. Thaddeus Oguike, Commander, Women Affairs, Imo State Peace Advocate, Eziada Theresa Akalonu, Commander United Nigerian/Chaplaincy, Imo State, Dr Ifeanyichukwu Nnabeze, Captain Jonas of Nigerian Army, Obinze Artillery Brigade, H.R.H. Eze Benedict Udeneho of Atta West and a host of others.
The high point of the event was the traditional seek and find your own husband”, in which Princess performed to the delight of all when she located and picked Evang. Kingsley in the midst of the crowd.
