Group begins tour to unite Owerri Zone

As the clamour for an Imo State governor of Owerri Zone extraction, come 2019, heightens, the   Owerri Youth Elders Forum (OYEF) has embarked on a sensitization tour of the nine local government areas in the senatorial zone.
Speaking during the first phase of the scheduled town hall meetings for Ikeduru LGA, held  at Community Primary School, Iho recently, Coordinator of the group, Comrade Aku Obidinma, said that the forum aims at brokering peace, unity and understanding among the people of the zone, adding that the zone has lost much due to unnecessary misunderstanding and disunity.
The OYEF Coordinator decried that other zones take the people of Owerri zone for granted and make mockery of them, boasting that they can be bought over when it matters.
The group lamented that an Owerri son has not been governor since 1999 due to sabotage, adding that the zone would soon get a credible person for the position come 2019.
Obidinma urged the people of Ikeduru who trooped out in their numbers to spread the gospel of a united Owerri zone throughout the LGA.
In his remarks, Director of Media & Publicity, Mr Emeka Nkwoada, said that the zone will only partner with any political party that chooses an Owerri zone person as its governorship candidate in 2019, saying that OYEF would take the advocacy to Orlu and Okigwe zones for their support.
During the town hall meeting, Ikeduru LG executives of OY EF, led by Mr Damian Ihentuge were inaugurated. Also, Contact/Mobilization, Media/Publicity and Constitution Drafting committees led by Hon Eziefule Nnadi, Mr Emeka Nwoada and Mr Eze Adiuku respectively were inaugurated.
The Ikeduru town hall meeting is the second to be held by OYEF after the first at Owerri West LGA.
