Give Imo better roads – Okey Ezeh tells Okorocha

The founder of Okechukwu Theodore Ezeh Foundation, Mr. Okey Ezeh has called on Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to give Imo better roads and not ones that cannot survive the rains.
Mr. Ezeh in a release made available to journalists in Owerri, stated that the governor has destroyed most of the solid roads constructed by the first civilian governor of the state. Chief Samuel Mbakwe, replacing them with shabby jobs in the name of urban renewal.
The former governorship aspirant who was alarmed at the poor quality of materials used for the roads, submitted that he had never seen anywhere in the world where roads cave in as they are being constructed and yet the government brags about it.
Mr Ezeh cited that poor nature of the ongoing construction on Orlu, MCC, Wetheral roads as what should worry every concerned Imo person.
He further lamented that the act of making use of private individuals without expertise on road construction, to execute the jobs, rather than qualified construction companies, has led to the death of many Imolites by way of accidents due to lack of placement of proper signs of construction on the roads.
Mr Ezeh noted that the idea of opening up roads is a good one, but maintained that quality and durability should not be sacrificed which, he said, will amount to waste of resources.
He, therefore, urged Governor Okorocha to stop wasting the state’s resources on construction of roads that cave in as the contractors leave site, when the people deserve something better.
