Ajumber changes camp in APC

Former Commissioner of Internal Generated Revenue and Pension Matters in Imo State, Vitalis Ajumbe, has confirmed dumping Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha for Senator Ifeanyi Arararume.
Ajumbe is a notable politician, having chaired the defunct opposition political party, the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP in Imo State for nine years.
The ANPP is one of the legacy political parties that formed the All Progressive Congress, APC.
He had worked for former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim when the latter vied for the PDP governorship primaries in 2015.
Ajumbe thereafter  joined Okorocha’s government  and was first appointed IGR Commissioner and later headed Information, Tourism and Public Utilities Ministry.
He was unceremoniously removed by Okorocha in 2016.
The politician confirmed leaving the Governor’s camp to on Sunday.
Reports indicate that he had attended the wedding ceremony of Chief Val Mbamara’s daughter in company of senator Araraume on Saturday, August 6 at the Cathedral of The Transfiguration of Our Lord, CATOL.
Reporters said that at the event, as Governor Okorocha was about leaving the venue, he spotted Ajumbe sited close to the senator and said “ You have also abandoned me. You have also abandoned your master”.
Reacting to Okorocha statement, Ajumber reportedly said it was actually the Governor that abandoned him and those above 50 years when he (Okorocha) said he has retired those above his age bracket from politics.
“ I pray that God will give him the strength to complete his tenure. Imo people made him our governor and Imo people will decide who the next governor of the state will be.
“ Senator Araraume is my friend and I see him as a focused person”, Ajumbe said.
