Imo PDP feud takes new dimension

By Vincent Osuji

The leadership tussle between Senator Hope Uzodinma and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, in the People Democratic Party (PDP) Imo State chapter, took another dimension last weekend when Uzodinma insisted that Barr.Nnamdi Anyaehie is the authentic state chairman of the party.
Uzodinma, who represents Orlu Senatorial District, told party members at the state party Secretariat on Okigwe Road that the result of the May 17, 2016, congress in the state cannot be changed and that the Supreme Court judgment which reaffirmed Sen. Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic National Chairman had nothing to do with the leadership of the party at both the state and local government levels.
According to him, issues of both the state and local government congresses were resolved by the National Working Council (NWC) of the party led by Sen. Ali Modu Sherriff, before the Port Harcourt convention produced the National Caretaker Committee led by Sen. Makarfi.
The longest serving Senator urged Barr. Charles Ezekwem to stop parading himself as the state party chairman and close ranks with him to reclaim Imo Douglas House in 2019.
He said; “We want to build a formidable party that will win election in 2019 in Imo State. Every Imolite wants a change and there is no way we can bring this change if we are not united.
The National Convention of the PDP held at the Eagles Square, Abuja, on August 12, 2017, ratified the state Executive Committee of Imo PDP led by Barrister Charles Ezekwem.
