Big names in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State have been given an ultimatum to repair the party in the state or face an uprising which will bring them down.
Handing down the ultimatum at the weekend, a legislator in the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Mike Iheanetu, challenged notable leaders of the party to fund a lasting solution to the problem of the party within three months.
The lawmaker who spoke to Christian Voice said, “I, Mike Iheanetu, I belong to the third generation of the owners of the party. I am now saying that where these leaders failed in the next two or three months to give us a direction in the party, woe betide them.”
He said that he would lead the uprising against the bigwigs and wondered why Imo PDP cannot come together, the party having been saved at the national level.
Iheanetu, who represents Aboh Mbaise, blamed the party’s problem on leadership feud between Senator Hop Uzodinma and former Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha.
He advised these leaders and their factions to go behind closed doors and agree on way forward for the party.
He said that the warring leaders and other leaders such Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Achike Udenwa, Sir Ikedi Ohakim, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, Dr Alex Obi, Chief Ozichukwu Chukwu, among others, would be seen collectively as the party’s problems should they fail to give PDP a direction.
Iheanetu described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a disappointment to Nigerians, adding that the party lacked internal democracy.
According to him, APC came “under fake arrangements by fake people” and so could not go far.
