Synod ends today

The Third Session of the 20th Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri ends today with a thanksgiving service at Christ’s Anglican Church, Owerri, Imo State, venue of the four-day event.
The synod, which began on Thursday, Oct 5, following the arrival of delegates and guests numbering up to 1,000, featured various spiritual and intellectual activities aimed at moving the Diocese forward.
Apart from the thanksgiving service, activities lined up for today also include the delivery of the Bishop’s Annual mission report and fund raising for the Bishop’s Foundation for Mission and Development (BFMD).
Yesterday, Sat. Oct. 7, the Bishop of the diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha PhD, presented the Bishop’s charge and address which was also launched as the synod progressed.
The synod theme this year is “Guard the Gospel”.
Various parishes and Archdeacons presented reports of their evangelical activities as well as highlighted their successes and challenges which were discussed by the delegates.
The synod was preceded by a three-day power-packed pre-synod Gospel Outreach which, the Vicar of Christ Church, Ven. Zion Ngoka, said, was intended to renew and revitalize the congregation in preparation for the big event.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the synod so far and wished the delegates journey mercies as they depart today after the synod.
