You have no reason to demolish our structures – Christ’s Church Vicar tells IMSG

The fence and structures of Christ Anglican Church, Owerri, venue of the 2017 Synod of the Owerri Anglican Diocese, which were demolished recently in the ongoing urban renewal programme of the Imo State Government were duly authorized by the state and local governments before they were built.
The Vicar of Christ Church, Ven. Zion Ngoka, has said this while fielding questions from newsmen on the Synod of the Owerri Anglican Diocese which ends today.
He lamented the pains people have been subjected to following the demolition exercises, and expressed dismay  that despite the fact that necessary fees were paid for the church structures, some overzealous agents of the state government still went on to deface the church which is hosting an important event in the Diocese.
He advised government on the need to give a human face to their urban Renewal programme, stating that his church was a refugee camp for the traders during the demolition of Eke-Ukwu Owerri central market.
Venerable Ngoka assured that the synod will usher in spiritual revival and renewal as well as enhance social interactions in the church for unity of purpose.
According to him, “Synod is the governing body of a branch of Christianity called Anglican church and Anglican church is that branch of Christianity that is episcopally led and philosophically governed and from the etymology of the word, synod means agreement, that is, parishes coming together to discuss the challenges and the faith of the Christian Community within a particular area”.
He pointed out that the delegates which comprise the elected laity and ordained men of God from the various parishes that constitute the Archdeaconries came with their parish reports that contain the history and development of their faith and the challenges they are having as a body of Christ within their areas.
The man of God also informed that the people generate the ideas or issues to be discussed but the Bishop moderates to ensure that the people are properly guided to be in tandem with biblical teachings.
He said that the resolutions of the synod which has the theme  “Guard The Gospel”, will guide the church in its operations in the next three years.
