Global village now global disaster – Bishop’s wife

By Nick Chibunna

Wife of the Anglican Bishop of Ikeduru, Mrs Anuli Maduwike (JP), is worried that the world as a global village, is fast being turned into a “global disaster”.
Mrs Maduwike expressed her worries when she delivered her Presidential Address at the Fourth Mothers’ Union Conference of the Ikeduru Diocese, held at St Stephen’s (Ang) Church Amii Akabo in Ikeduru local Government Area of Imo State.
The Bishop’s wife, fondly called Nnedinma Ikeduru, reminded participants that the day is evil.
She warned that if something is not done, and quickly too, the situation could degenerate further.
She decried the high rate of crime, including, armed robbery, kidnapping, killings, insurgency, Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, the threat of nuclear bomb, astronomical increase in essential goods, and others.
The address which chronicled the achievements, prospects and challenges of the women’s organization within the period under review, also took a swipe on the various levels of leadership in the country accusing them of having impoverished the poor masses.
She enjoined all to reflect on the theme of the conference and take refuge in God’s righteousness, prayers and His words with implicit obedience in His command so that over victory would shine like a noon day.
The high point of the event was the cutting of the conference cake. Prominent sons and daughters of the Diocese were recognized as, conference couple, associate friends and Ada Zion.
The four-day event featured a wide range of activities which included, bible exposition, praise worship, presentation of archdeaconry reports, health talks, key note address, reading, resolution and issuance of communiqué, among others.
It ended, recently, with a thanksgiving service.
