Registrar stresses importance of laity in evangelism

Members of the Laity have been described as “The first and foremost evangelists” in the church.
Speaking at the just-concluded Divine Commonwealth Conference (DIVCCON) organized by the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, in Abuja, the Registrar, Barr. Abraham Yisa, highlighted the roles of the Laity in contemporary Anglican Church of Nigeria.
He said the Laity should not take the backseat but added that their role in the church is not limited to evangelism but also to the funding  of quantitative education which, he said, is the bedrock of life.
Barr. Yisa said that the Laity must promote the doctrines of the Anglican Church by speaking against other doctrines that are contrary to what is found in the scriptures, such as homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality and the like.
The Laity, he added, should conduct a self-examination to determine their potentials which they should make their ministry.
Lay people, Yisa said, must focus on what they can do to make the church functional.
