By Gid Ahanonu
Political parties in Imo State have been advised to imbibe the culture of internal democracy when conducting primary elections for the 2019 guber position and other elective positions for their parities.
This advice was given by an Owerri-based community leader in Imo State, Chief Dr. Oweaya C. Anukam KSM (Agbawodike Izu Owerri) while addressing a group of political from Owerri zone who called on him recently.
Chief Anukam stated that imposition of candidates on party supporters promotes mediocrity and loss of party followers.  He urged political leaders to look out for credible candidates as well as carry every member along in order to excel at the elections, adding that the ultimate goal of any party is to win elections.  No party can perfectly win elections in a party that promotes injustice and nepotism.
Chief Anukam urged politicians to carry Owerri zone along in all their political calculations rather he enjoined them to seek the support of areas as no particular zone can win election alone, noting that presenting a credible candidate is an advantage.
Chief Anukam declared, I belong to all parties, but encourage only credible candidates with track records of honesty and good conduct.
He urged ambitions politicians to join any party of their choice and remain their even when they loose.
He then thanked them for calling on him for advice and wished them luck in their pursuit.
