Activities marking the annual Eastern Bloc Convention of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria holding in Christ Anglican Church Owerri were rounded off today with a thanksgiving services.
The ceremony with the theme “The Andrew Generation” John 1:35-42 was targeted at enriching the participants with knowledge of the gospel of Christ, why it must be preached to all nooks and crannies of the world and its benefits and methods of speeding it. It featured two categories of Christian faithful, the clergy and their wives, and the general public, with some Bishop, archdeacons and other religious.
The Eastern Block chairman Rt. Rev. S.C. Ezeofor, was the chief guest of honour.
In his opening address, the Anglican Bishop of Owerri Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha PhD, explained the meaning of EFAC to the people, and described the theme of the convention, “The Andrew Generation”, as a commitment to personal Evangelism and Discipleship.
He prayed God to lead them to committing themselves to the ministry of bringing people to Jesus. He expressed gratitude to the host Vicar, Ven. Zion Ngoka, for his dynamic nature in hosting the convention.
The occasion featured ministration by eminent scholars of religion.
The director and chaplain of EFAC in Owerri Diocese, Ven. Dr. Simeon Duruji, expressed thanks to God for the success of the retreat and appreciated the efforts of the host Bishop Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha PhD; Rt. Rev. Chidi Oparaojiaku of Ohaji/Egbema; Maduwike (JP) or their support to the organization.
