2018 Mothering Sunday message from Dr. Mrs. Eunice Okorocha (Mama Owerre)

Our beloved Mothers,
We are grateful to our Almighty Father for giving us all the opportunity to celebrate this Mothering Sunday of 2018. To Him alone be the Glory and Adoration in Jesus name. Amen.
At the beginning of this year our Lord Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, The Rt. Revd. Cyril C. Okorocha, Ph.D., encouraged us by proclaiming that this year, God in His mercy will grant us a Divine Fulfillment of His promises in Christ Jesus. May this be so for each one of us in the name of Jesus. Amen
Our Women’s Ministries’ Theme for this year is “EBENEZER”: Thus far the Lord has led us, (Divine Dependency).  This means that God in His mercy has led us from beginning to the end.  God is our helper and we depend on Him. In 1st Samuel 7:10-12 we read about how God helped the children of Israel and rescued them from their enemies the Philistines.  Because they repented and cried to God, He gave them victory. Samuel raised their Ebenezer, saying: “Thus far has the Lord helped us”.
When we give our lives to God in Christ and totally depend on Him, then God will be our Helper, Provider, Defender, Healer, Deliverer and our Alpha and Omega.  Is God your helper?
It is said that when some people have problems, e.g. those looking for a child, for husband or wife, for wealth, health and prosperity, they run to “prayer houses”, to prophets or even to some churches with faulty foundation. Who do you run to in time of trouble? Be honest to yourself.  Remember our song says: “O God our help in ages past our hope for years to some …”
For God to meet us in our time of need we must have Faith in Christ Jesus. God wants us to live a life of faith and to grow in faith. Heb. 6:11 tells us that:
“Without Faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”.
Do you have faith in God? Remember this song:  “My Faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Saviour Divine. Now hear me while I pray; Take all my guilt away, Oh let me from this day, be wholly Thine!”
If God is our helper, we need not live in fear. God says to us “Fear Not” Isaiah 43:5; says: “Do not be afraid, for I am with you”. What a wonderful assurance to help us, trust God fully because: “That is why He is called Jehovah, what He says He will do, that is what He will do, that is why He is called Jehovah. Amen.
May God in His mercy help us at all times to lift up our “EBENEZER” saying He is our helper. May he strengthen our faith to trust Him and be instruments in His hands to reach out to others, preach the Gospel to our children, family and friends so as to bring them to Christ.
May we remember that we have no other but Him alone  – that is Divine, Dependency. Therefore we shall not Fear as He has said – “Do not be afraid, for I am with you” Amen and Amen.
“My Helper O, my Helper, my Helper O, my Helper,
There is something that makes me come into your presence, my helper”
In Conclusion:
To God Almighty, our Ebenezer (Helper), our Dependable Saviour, our Redeemer, our Advocate, be all honour and glory for leading and keeping us all these twenty (20) years of our ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Owerri. We are grateful to God for all He has done for us and through us. So as a family, we say: We cannot do without you, we cannot do without you, we cannot do without you O Lord .Amen and Amen.
