It was jubilation galore last weekend at the expanded and modernized Cathedral Church of All Saints Egbu in Owerri North LGA, Imo State as the Anglican Bishop of Egbu Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor collated nine new Canons and inducted nine new Archdeacons for the Diocese.
Speaking after the service, Bishop Okorafor reminded the newly elevated clerics that their elevation is a privilege and advised them not to joke with it or take it for granted, stressing that “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
The prelate who explained that collation and induction is the exclusive right of the Bishop also called on the church to support them.
Earlier in his sermon during the service, Ven. Kingsley Okere enjoined all Christian faithful to avoid rancor and all other actions that destabilize the church.
Ven. Okere who is the Archdeacon of Amala and retreatant to the new Canons and Archdeacons, advised them to live up to the expectations of their new calling.
Speaking in an interview after the service, one of the new Archdeacons, Ven. Dr. Ifeanyi Amaliri said he feels the same aura of joy like any other person fortunate to be promoted.

Also speaking, one of the new Canons, Rev. Canon Godswill Ihekuna said: “I feel very excited and very grateful to God who has called us and made it possible for us to reach this height”.
