Ideato Diocese gets new Deacons, Priests, Canon

Two new Deacons and four new Priests were ordained for the Anglican Diocese of Ideato last Sunday. Also collated for the Diocese was a Canon.
The Trinity Ordination ceremony which was performed by the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri and Bishop of Ideato Diocese, His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Caleb A. Maduoma, JP took place at Christ Anglican Church Ntueke in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.
Speaking after performing the ordination ceremony, Archbishop Maduoma charged the newly ordained priests and Canon to go out and work for the Lord Jesus Christ with commitment. He also wished them well in their ministry.
Preaching a sermon during the ordination service, Ven. Paul C. Nwosu, JP charged the newly ordained priests to be prayerful and to avoid conforming to the worldly life of hypocrisy and deceit in order to succeed and become light to the people.
Taking his text from Jeremiah 1:4-6, Ven. Nwosu who spoke on the theme “called for a purpose” noted that God called different people both in the old and new testament at different times and for different purposes. Citing the instances of the call of Moses and Jeremiah, he said that despite their excuses to God’s call, God prepared and equipped them for the mission in view.
He stressed that God chooses whoever he wishes in any setting and pointed out that those chosen by God should always see their call as a privilege and favour from God instead of a right.
The Archdeacon who also served as Retreatant to the newly ordained priests likened their call to the call of the 12 Apostles of old by Jesus Christ whose purpose of selecting them out to preach the gospel of salvation to the people.
He enjoined Christians to eschew bitterness and rancor, always show love to their priests and play supportive roles in the church inorder to move the gospel forward.
Ven. Nwosu noted that the call of the newly ordained priests came at a time the nation was experiencing some social decay such as corruption, killing, militancy, poor healthcare and economic downturn. He therefore urged them to join other church leaders in healing our ailing nation.
Earlier in his remarks, the clerical synod secretary of the Diocese, Ven. C.S.O. Ukachukwu thanked God for another ordination session in the Diocese. He appreciated the Archbishop for his dogged leadership and generosity in the Diocese and advised the newly ordained priests to remain level headed, humble, focused and faithful in their assignment.
Among dignitaries present at the occasion were wife of the Archbishop and president of the women’s work, Mrs. A. O Maduoma, JP, the chancellor of the Diocese, Barr. M. O Uzoma (KSC), Registrar Barr. Chief Paul Umensofor (KSC), the Assistant Legal Secretary Barr.
