Isi Mbano Women’s conference ends with thanksgiving

Activities marking the 2018 Biennual Women’s Guild Conference of the Anglican Diocese of Isi Mbano ended last Sunday with a thanksgiving service at St James Anglican church Umueze 1 in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
Preaching a homily at the service, the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Godson U. Ukanwa, Ph.D (JP) called on Christians to remain steadfast and to prepare for the second coming of Christ by being humble, upright, philanthropic, helpful to the church and humanity as well as living exemplary lives.
Bishop Ukanwa who preached on the theme of the conference, “The manifestation of Divine Expectation” pointed out that present day happenings signifies the manifestation of Christ’s second coming. He also  said that killings, kidnapping, betrayal, denial, fake prophecy and adulteration of the word of God which were rampant in contemporary world were evidence of Christ’s second coming.
The prelate however, reminded the Christian faithful that it was not easy following Christ but encouraged them not to panic stressing that “blessed are those who follow Christ to the end”.
He called on women to live exemplary lives and exhibit characters worthy emulation especially after attending the conference. He enjoined them to emulate virtuous biblical women like Deborah, Ruth, Hannah and Abigirl assuring them of God’s promise  of care which never fails.
Preaching further, Bishop Ukanwa lamented the overheating of the polity which he said is not good for democracy and called on politicians to have a change of attitude.
He expressed reservations over the ability of the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the country to the Promised Land and stressed the need for government agencies to be government.
The service also featured fund raising activities by the women led by the president of Mothers’ Union and  Women’s Guild of the Diocese and the wife of the Bishop, Mrs Godiva Chioma Ukanwa, M. Ed (Nnebuihe).
The service was conducted by Ven. Chijioke Soribe while the host Archdeacon, Ven. V.O. Chikwem read the first lesson taken from Genesis 1:21-31. The Ehime Archdeaconry choir led by Sir Emma Nnamdi rendered beautiful anthems which added more glamour to the service.
Highpoint of the service was the conferment of Nneoma Dioces little to three distinguished women namely Mrs Gladys I Nwachukwu, Lolo Comfort Onyekam and Mrs Celine Ezeji.
In his vote of thanks, the Bishop appreciated the service of Ven. Barr. C. Elelia, The president of women’s ministries, Mrs Godiva Ukanwa, M.Ed, Ven V. O. Chikwem and clergy wives as well as the LOC Chairman, Barr. Lucous Eze for their contribution towards the successful hosting of the conference.
