Rebuild demolished Imo markets … To enhance the state’s economy – Mothers’ Union President tells Okorocha

The APC government of Imo State led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been called upon to take urgent steps to accelerate the reconstruction of demolished markets across the state in order to improve the economic conditions in the state.
The President of the Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild of the Anglican Diocese of Isi Mbano and wife of the Bishop, Mrs Godiva Chioma Ukanwa, M.Ed (Nnebiuhe) made the call last weekend while delivering her presidential Address at the 2018 women’s Guild conference of the Diocese held at St. James Anglican Church Umueze 1 in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
She noted that the demolition of many rural markets across the state have worsened the living conditions of the people as prices of goods and services have soared high. She pleaded with the state government to make provisions to cushion the negative effects of the demolition exercise.
Mrs Ukanwa lamented that many families have been dislocated and driven into despair and frustration as a result of the untimely demolitions.
While commending the state government for its urban renewal programme, she advised the government to pursue it with human face, adding that it should be executed with the understanding of what it takes to embark on such capital intensive projects.
The woman leader sued for durability and professionalism while undertaking public projects for posterity sake, warning the state government to resist the temptation of abandoning key projects.
She regretted that most of the 27 general hospitals under construction across the state which ought to have been functioning now to improve the health of Imo people in rural areas have been taken over by weeds, rodents and reptiles.
The Bishops’ wife opined that the assessment of the performance index of any government holder was not only anchored on building several roads and poor quality projects, adding that the happiness and welfare of the people supersedes all other considerations.
She advised the state governor to be more focused and concentrated on his policies in this injury time, rather than being so much concerned on who succeeds him, stressing that this should be left for lmolites  to decide when the time comes.
On the theme of the conference, “the manifestation of Divine Expectation”, Mrs Maduoma charged Christians to always aim for the crown of righteousness and glory.
She also charged Christians to make sure that they know Jesus by receiving him in their lives so that they can rejoice in his manifestation.
