NUC votes FUTO best in open education resources

The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has emerged the overall best in the first Open Education Resources (OER) ranking by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2017.
Similarly, Dr. Uchechukwu Chukwuocha of the Department of Public Health in FUTO has been selected as a recipient of the 2018/2019 US Fulbright scholarship award in the African Research Scholar Programmes, after a thorough and competitive selection process.
The FUTO Vice Chancellor, to Prof Francis C. Eze, made this known while briefing the press on the occasion of his second anniversary as the 7th substantive vice-chancellor of the university last Tuesday.
The Vice chancellor state that as a university of technology charged with training the students on skills, they have been committed  to providing  teaching and learning facilities including stable academic environment for effective academic work, through workshops and research for the period under his watch. He said that the academic calendar in respect of matriculations, examinations, convocations, inaugural and public lectures workshop and conferences have been sleble during his period.
He further disclosed that NUC has endorsed all the 45 academic programmes, accredited 41 with 2 on the interim list.
According to professor Eze, the university has embarked on exchange programmes with 10 national and international institutions, including the Nigeria Air Force, Federal Road Safety Corps and some Chinese universities.
He disclosed that since he took over on June 19, 2016, his administration had made giant strides in infrastructure, agriculture and staff welfare.
The VC said that FUTO how has over 10 hectares of cassava, pineapple and plaintain farms, in addition to four hectares of orange farm.
