An Interim Legal Team has been appointed, to take charge of all legal matters in the Anglican Diocese of Owerri.
The team which is made of two legal luminaries include Hon. Justice (Lady) Evelyn Anyadike, a Judge of the Federal High Court, and Hon. Sir Chukwuma Ekomaru, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Announcing this at a recent Diocesan Board Meeting, held in the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL), Owerri, the Supervisory Bishop of Owerri. and Bishop of Ikeduru, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel C. Maduwike JP, noted that the directive for the appointment came from the Office of the Primate, Church of Nigeria. Anglican Communion, Abuja.
In the same vein, he announced the constitution of a Strategic and Planning Committee, to see to the effective take-off of the Obazu Community Grammar School (OCOGRAM) Obazu-Mbieri in the next academic year, beginning in September, 2018, with Ven. (Dr.) Chukwuma Opara, as its Chairman.
Other members of the committee include- Hon. Sir Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), Sir Chukwuma Uchegbu, Sir Jerry Opara, Sir (Dr.) Obinna Iwueke, Rev. (Dr.) Chris Mba, Ven. (Dr.) Ferdinand Mbalisi, Dr. (Mrs.) Ojiugo Akakuru, Sir Chika Mgbagwu. Dr. (Mrs.) Joan Arimanwa, Dr. (Mrs.) Comfort Igboasoiyi, and Dr. (Mrs.) Happiness Obioma.
Similarly, the Diocesan Board also reconstituted the Management Board of the Archdeacon Denis Seminary (ADS) Mbieri, with Engr. (Dr.) Ogechi Ikpemo as its Chairman, while other members of the new Board include the following- Prof. Victor O. Njoku, Dr. (Sir) Max Anyanwu, Lady Nkechi Onyekuru, Mrs. Rose Ihezue, Rev. Canon Dr. Festus Opara, Prof. Augustine Awujo, Mrs. Rose Ozoemena, Dr. Kelechi Iwuamadi. Prof. (Lady) Pearl Akanwa, Mr. Marshal Ikedioha, Mr. Chukwuma Ihekire, Dr. Obinna Oleribe, Mrs. Scholastica Onyeji and Ven. (Dr.) Ferdinand Mbalisi. Meanwhile, Rev. Ozioma Aririatu continues to act as the Chaplain of the School.
The above committee is to see to the smooth running and management of the school, and to effect major repairs of the school blocks, among other charges.
The Supervisory Bishop, reminded the Diocesan Board members as well as other faithful in the Anglican Communion, that they are called at all times to take the Church to a higher level, adding that God has a purpose for calling each faithful to serve Him. and prayed that everyone should endeavour to meet such a purpose, to the glory of God.
He commended the Archdeacon in-charge, Christ’s Church Archdeaconry, Owerri. Venerable Ven. Zion Ngoka, for standing in to preach in the brief service that preceded the Board meeting, even at short notice.
Earlier in a brief admonition, the Vicar of Christ’s Church, Owerri, Ven. Zion Ngoka. had charged members of the Board, not just to see themselves as God’s elect, but to develop faith in God, such that welcomes everyone, sharpens our relationship with one another, and also self-transforming.
He noted that, the problem in the nation is that we. as Christians, have not been healed spiritually, stressing that, when Christ is born in us. it would help us to relate with one another, irrespective of race and language.
The Archdeacon, who drew his text from Titus 1:1-5 and I Cor. 12:27. reminded all faithful of being one body in Christ, and consequently should surrender ourselves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in order to attract the grace and peace of God.
