YPP guber candidate set to transform Imo if elected

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Dr. Linus Okorie, has promised to transform Imo into a world class state filled with endless possibilities, if elected governor in the 2019 general elections.
He made the statement during a press conference at Rock View Hotel Owerri on Monday, after emerging as the party’s guber candidate last weekend.
The renowned leadership development coach and human capital development consultant said he will do this through massive human capital development, youth employment, attraction of global and local resources as well as unleashing excellence in governance.
This, he added, will lead to a quality, productive, robust and thriving economy for all Imo people.
Dr. Okorie who emerged the party’s candidate with a convincing victory in the primaries promised that he will run a transparent government with zero tolerance to corruption. He also promised to reform the civil service and make it more interesting and more productive.
The Umu Ezike- Egbu, Egbuoma Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State born leadership trainer pledged to adhere strictly to the rule of law and make room for the indepence of local governments, judiciary and legislature.
He stated that the healthcare system in the state will be improved through what he called Private Partnership Participation (PPP). According to him, there will be free healthcare for pregnant women and there will be no more medical tourism.
“I will attract local and foreign investors by investing in infrastructure. Imo State will become the tourism point in Nigeria and thus will be of good economic benefit to the state”, Dr Okorie said.
The governorship candidate expressed displeasure over the plight of pensioners and promised that, if elected governor, he will not only pay pensioners as and at when due, but will also train and equip them ahead of their retirement.
The state chairman of the party, Hon. Victor Diala who was present at the press conference said that YPP came with a message, which he said, was attitudinal change.
He noted that money polities was that order of  the day in the country and that Nigerians have been fooled for a long time now, stressing that YPP stands for service, accountability, unity and transparency.  Hon. Diala called for a change of heart among both the citizenry and the politicians.
“The electoral process has to change,” he said.
The party chairman said that the prize of YPP’s forms were pocket friendly and regretted that the so-called corruption. Fighters and big parties are setting their forms at exorbitant prizes, adding that they are not encouraging the younger ones to participate’.
Also speaking, the Director General of Linus Okorie Campaign Organization, Barr. Chudi Onuzo called on Imolites to join YPP and vote for the right candidate to correct their past mistakes.
Linus Okorie became the first governorship flagbearer of a political party to emerge in Imo State, after defeating two other aspirants, Chief Patrick Ohajianya and Enyinna Nwogu in a one-horse-race primaries held last weekend at Rockview hotels Owerri.
According to the returning officer, Hon. Vidneyo Bamaiyi who declare him winner and issued him certificate of return, Dr Linus Okorie polled a total of 751 votes out 775 votes cast, leaving Nwogu and Ohajianya with just 15 and 9 votes respectively.
