Owerri Knights’ president rallies support for Bishop -elect

By Emma Onumah

The President of the Owerri Council of Knights of St. Christopher, Sir Gabriel Oduah, has expressed gratitude to God, for making it possible for a succeeding Bishop to be elected for the Diocese of Owerri at the just concluded Standing Committee Meeting of the Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion), held at St. Peter’s Cathedra! Church, Minna, Niger State, in the person of Ven. (Dr) Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah who, until his election was the Archdeacon in-charge, Ibeama Ogwa  Archdeaconry, Anglican Diocese of Owerri, and a Senior Lecturer at the  Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE).
President Oduah made this statement while addressing the Joint Meeting of the Council’s Executives and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), for the forthcoming National Delegates’ Conference of the Joint Council (JCK) of Knights, to be hosted by the Owerri Council in November this year.
He enjoined all the Knights and Ladies of the Owerri Council, to rally round him and give him their maximum support and loyalty, as their incoming Superior and the new Bishop of the Diocese of Owerri, adding that, God who moves and works in mysterious ways, knows why He ha done what He has done, to bring this development to them, and as such,: he warned, no one should do anything that is capable of tarnishing the image of the Council in the circumstance.
The Council President, used the occasion to ask the fourteen subcommittees of the L.O.C, to double their efforts, in order to face squarely the challenges of organizing such an important conference.
He, however, expressed confidence in the ability of the L.O.C Chairman, Hon. Sir Levi Oguike, to face the arduous task ahead, having earlier done so when he chaired a similar committee of the council a few years back.
Adding his voice, the L.O.C. Chairman, Sir Levi Oguike, who cited Psaim 124, noted that, though there were snares here and there, the Lord would see us through in this case, as He did before.
