Parents need care at old age – Bishop Chukwuma Oparah

The need to take good care of parents at their old age has been stressed.
The Lord Bishop of Owerri,  Rt.  Rev. Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah Ph.D JP, gave this advice during the sing-song organized by the Owerri Council of Knights for the Bishop’s late father, Sir Felix Uzoamaka Oparah, at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri last week Monday.
Bishop Oparah, who was present at the sing-song with his wife, Mrs Chidiebere Oparah, noted that he, his siblings and their mother, took very good care of their father during the period of his sickness, and that they also stayed closely to him till his call to glory.
He thanked the Council members, for making out time to attend the sing-song, in spite of their loaded schedule in the past week, adding that their massive turnout at the sing-song was a source of encouragement to his family.
According to him, their father had died a born-again Christian.
In his remarks, the President-General of the Joint Council of Knights (JCK) and also President of the Owerri Council, Sir Gab Oduah, who described the Bishop as “brand new and vibrant”, assured him of the Council’s unalloyed support and encouragement during his episcopacy, praying that God would, in His infinite mercy, be his Helper in all circumstances and at all times in his episcopacy.
Earlier in an admonition, one of the Chaplains of the Council, Rev. Canon Onyinyeoma Onyeagocha, who captioned his homily: “MY HELP IS IN THE NAME OF THE LORD”, charged Christians, to always look up beyond the hills for help from the Lord, drawing his text from Psalms 121.
Canon Onyeagocha,, who is also the Vicar/Administrator incharge, Irete Administrative Area, posited that, when our help comes from the Lord, He will use any man that is incharge of affairs to see to our needs.
While encouraging the Lord Bishop and the entire Oparah family to take heart, the Administrator stressed the need for everybody to continue to look unto the Lord, the Creator of all things, in all that they do.
The two Bible Readings, drawn from Psalms 139:1-16 and Revelation 22:7-16 were taken, by Lady Ifeyinwa Oduah, wife of the President/PG, and Sir Nnamdi Anumihe the Council’s Protocol Officer respectively.
