Don’t maltreat your spouses – Rev. Fr. tells men

Men have been enjoined not to beat up their wives no matter the provocation just as women are called upon to appreciate and be submissive to their husbands.
Fr. Frankline Mirikwe of Christ the King Catholic Church, Oru Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA gave the injunction in his homily during a thanksgiving mass in the parish.
Preaching on the topic: ”The need to live peacefully in marriage life,” the clergy outlined that marriage strives when there is mutual understanding, underscoring that where there is no love, tolerance and understanding, the union is bound to crash.
He reiterated that any man that batters the wife is a coward and lacks wisdom, urging couples to make God their bedrock, strength and refuge to bring up the children in the fear of God so that when they grow they will not depart from the path led for them, pointing out that “When Jesus Christ is involved, protocols are broken, crises are resolved and problems solved.”
The cleric reechoed need for joy and happiness in the family and scolded men who maltreat their wives, indulge in drunkness, adultery and gambling while neglecting their responsibilities at home.
Fr. Mirikwe charged couples to love, care and cherish one another, underlining that “marriage is for better for worst” and that women should understand that their husbands are the heads of the family and should not disrespect or look down on them even when they are not financially bouyant.
