Christians mark Ash Wednesday … As Lenten Season begins

Christians on Wednesday marked the Ash Wednesday, which flagged off the Lenten Season in 2019.
Lenten season is a period Christians all over the world commemorate the temptations, sufferings and agony of our Lord Jesus Christ went through to save the whole world from their sins.
It is marked with prayers, fasting, special Lenten service and sober reflections on Christian’s life in relation with the work of redemption and also reminds God’s children that they are pilgrims on their way to eternal glory.
The season, which lasts for 40 days, culminating in Easter, is used to admonish God’s people to abstain from evil.
Some Christian denominations marked the Ash Wednesday by rubbing ashes on the forehead as a reminder that from dust we came and to dust we would return.
