Imo elders, Madumere others congratulate Ihedioha

A series of congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the Governor-elect of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, since he was declared winner in the Sat. March 9, gubernatorial elections in the state.
The first to congratulate the governor-elect among his co-contestants was Chief Ikedi Ohakim, former governor of the state who contested for a second term on the platform of Accord Party.
Ohakim, the incumbent prior to 2011 elections, was defeated by the outgoing governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
In his Facebook page, the former governor thanked Imo people for exercising their rights and promised to work with the new governor.
He noted that the profundity of Ihedioha’s victory and its spiritual necessity can hardly be exaggerated.
He assured the governor-elect of his support and prayed that God would great him the strength and wisdom to succeed.
The Chancellor of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, and chairman of Igbo Traditional Rulers forum, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, assured the people of the state that Ihedioha’s emergence as governor will restore the people’s confidence in the leadership of the state.
He said that civil servants, pensioners, businessmen and women, artisans and even traditional institution have reasons to thank God that Ihedioha is now coming on board as governor.
In their congratulatory message made available to Christian Voice, the Imo State Elders Advisory Council.
The message signed by Prof. F.C. Dike (SAN), Air Commodore Luke Ochulor (Rtd) and Engr. Charles Ugwuh (OON) described the victory as amounting to “a re-set for good governance”.
The council, which did not hide their support for Ihedioha during the campaigns, commended ndi Imo for turning out en masse to vote well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for ensuring a successful election in the state.
Interim President General of Owerri Communities, Chief Dr. Sir Christian Oweaya Anukam KSM said the ‘resounding victory” was God’s will which no one could subvert.
He thanked God and prayed Him to see the governor through in the task ahead.
In his own message Imo deputy Governor Prince Eze madumere described Ihedioha’s victory as that of the entire Imo state.
He said “I heartily felicitate with you on your hard earned victory and victory for many other patriotic Imolities who collectively made sacrifices to liberate the state from the land of the oppressor and traducer of our people”.
