Uwajumogu for Senate presidency?

Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, representing Imo North Senatorial District looks set for the Senate presidency, following his reelection into the Senate.
It is the second time the former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly is to be elected into the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was confirmed re-elected after a supplementary poll on March 9, as the February 23 election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The senator, in his post-election speech at the weekend, said that his re-election was victory for the South East geo-political zone.
He thanked the people of Okigwe senatorial zone for re-electing him into the Senate and promised to attract infrastructure, projects and empowerment to the zone.
INEC Returning Officer for Imo North Senatorial District (Okigwe zone), Prof. D.O. Ohajianya, after collation of the final results from the local government areas, declared Uwajumogu duly elected in the re-run election.
He said that Uwajumogu, who is currently representing the zone, polled 57,938, the highest number of votes to emerge the winner defeating his closest rival, Patrick Ndubueze of the PDP who polled 26,405 votes.
Senator Uwajumogu is the only APC senator from the South East qualified to head the Senate should the senate zone its presidency to the zone.
