Ihedioha, Irona collect INEC’s Certificate of Return

The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued the Imo State governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and his running mate, Hon. Greald Irona, with certificates of return.
Also issued with certificates of return at a colourful ceremony in Owerri on Wednesday were elected members of the State House of Assembly who were victorious in the 2019 general elections.
Performing the ceremony, the INEC supervising officer for Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States, Okey Ibeanu, advised them to be magnanimous in victory.
The governor-elect, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked Imo people for electing them into the leadership positions in the state and praised INEC and security operatives for discharging their duties effectively during the elections.
Ihedioha was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is expected to take over from Owelle Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the people later at the PDP secretariat Okigwe Road, Owerri, Chief Ihedioha stated that he would run an all inclusive 90 ministration of transparency integrity and accountability while assuring the people of sustaining the principles of rule of law and due process as ensured in the constitution.
He equally advised the legislators-elect to study the Nigeria constitution and legislative rules for them to adhere to it for a good administration, assuring them of noninterference of the executive in legislative job, especially, in their oversight, appropriation and law making functions.
The governor-elect regretted the high rate of indiscipline in the state and promised to tackle it head-long, adding that the revenue base of the state would be improved.
He called on political opponents to sheath their sword and join him in rebuilding Imo irrespective of zone.
Chief Ihedioha assured all PDP members who worked hard for his success of adequate reward while urging them to bear with him as he plans to accommodate other parties in the scheme of things in his administrations.
The administrator of CATOL, Ven. Dr. A.C. Chukwuocha, conducted the opening prayer as the event witnessed a large turnout.
