Pensioners set agenda for Ihedioha

As organizations, groups and individuals continue to send congratulatory messages to the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Imo State Chapter has advised the governor-elect to formulate policies and programmes that would restore the confidence of the people of the state in government.
Chief James Osuigwe State Chairman of the Union, made the observation weekend in Owerri while fielding questions from Christian Voice on the backdrop of the recent congratulatory visits to the governor-elect by his Union.
According to him, while congratulating Chief Ihedioha on his resounding victory, the union expressed satisfaction that God would use the governor-elect to wipe away tears from the eyes of the Imo people who had been subjected to an untold hardship in recent years.
To this end, according to him, the union made case for the fixing of moribund industries and establishment of new factories that would stem the high crime rate and give jobs to millions of unemployed Imo youths.
The union boss said that if Chief Ihedioha could avoid frivolities, impunity, disregard to the rule of law, acrid nepotism, and sub-standard work, Imo State would bounce back again.
As a way to rebuild and reactivate the state’s ailing economy, Chief Osuigwe said that the best option was entrepreneurship which would make an average Imo people self-employed.
On the plight of Imo pensioners, which according to Chief Osuigwe, had been subjected to an untold hardship due to non-payment of pensions and gratuities, the union boss said that the NUP hoped that the emergence of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha would bring succour to the senior citizens who had been treated with levity by those who sworn to protect them.
Since he was declared the governor-elect for Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), both the country home of Chief Emeka Ihedioha in Mbutu Aboh Mbaise L.G.A. and his residence in the state capital, Owerri, had been flooded with congratulatory messages and visits by groups, individuals and organizations.
NUP Imo Chapter, was among the early group to congratulate and advise the Imo governor-elect.
