Some members the 8th House of the Imo State House of Assembly, which wound up last Monday, has alleged that some “senior members of the immediate past state government” are after their lives.
The ex-speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Offor, raised the alarm during his valedictory speech on Monday. He expressed concern about  security threats to his life and that of other members of the House by some officials of the last administration in the state.
“Should anything funny or unusual  happen to me or any other member of the house, senior government officials of the immediate past administration of Rochas Okorocha should be held responsible,” he warned.
Speaking also at the valedictory session, Hon. Ikenna Nzeruo moved a motion for a vote-of- confidence on Rt. Hon. Chinedu Offor, stressing that he has made the House proud by righting what he described as the wrongs of Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, the immediate past speaker, who he accused of perpetrating evil in the Assembly.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Israel Nnataraonye of Mbaitoli.
In his remarks, Hon. Barr. Donatus Onuigwe from Oru West reechoed that Offor has made them proud and opined that Offor’s portrait be placed in the House as Speaker, adding that Ihim’s own should either be completely removed or placed behind Offor’s own.
