Rise in ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ crime worries Okigwe Anglican youths

Anglican Youths in the Okigwe Diocese have frowned at the growing upsurge in cyber crime, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”, among Nigerian youths.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the Okigwe Archdeaconry Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) conference held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Umualumoko in Ezinachi Parish, the youths called on Nigerian youths to desist from the new craze for quick money.
The communiqué was signed by Barr. Ozioma Osunkwo, Chairman of the Communiqué Committee, Miss Uche Oguine, Sec. and Bro Ifeanyichukwu Maduagwu, Public Relations Officer.
Others are Engr. Chidiebere Gamaliel, Leader of the AYF in Okigwe Archdeaconry and Rev. Longinus Mbaneto, the AYF Chaplain for Okigwe Archdeaconry.
The youths noted that hard work pays more than engaging in such ungodly acts for quick money, quoting Proverbs 20:17 that says “a bread of deceit is sweet to a man, but afterwards he mouth shall be filled with gravel.”
While they called on the youths to engage in entrepreneurial skills that will put food on their table and reduce dependency on government jobs, the conference also admonished the youths to shun cultism, kidnapping, prostitution and other acts that could ruin their future.
The conference called on the Imo State Governor to “prayerfully” select God-fearing people, with the interest of the state at heart, in his appointments and to also keep his campaign promises.
The youths thanked the Bishop of the diocese, Rt. Rev. E.C.D. Osuegbu, Ph.D for his fatherly care and love over AYF, as well as his wife, Mrs. C.C. Osuegbu JP (Mama Okigwe) for her concern for the youth ministry.
The youths also expressed gratitude to their Chaplain, Rev. Canon Godson Nwachukwu, the Parish priest, Ven. Nelson Maduforo and Evangelist Chigbomkpa Osuala, and a host of others who helped in making the conference a success.
The theme of the conference was “God of all impossibility” (Genesis 18:14, Luke 1:37 and Mark 10:27).
