Diocese of Owerri kicks off 60th anniversary programme today with posthumous awards

Activities marking the 60th Anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri kicks off today with Posthumous Awards to be given in honour of those who have contributed to the growth of the diocese.
A release, signed by the Chairman, Publicity and Protocol Sub-Committee of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Sir Martin Ebe, who is also the Managing Editor of Christian Voice Newspaper, also outlined other major activities during the week-long event.
The Bishop, Rt. Rev. Chukwuma Oparah Ph.D, JP, is expected to be part of a team to visit motherless babies homes and hospitals tomorrow and Tuesday, while on Wednesday, there will prayer and fasting sessions and miracles service at St. Mark’s Chapel, Bishop’s Court in the morning.
The foundation stone laying of the new Diocesan secretariat Complex and that of St. Mark’s Chapel at the Bishop’s Court will also take place on Wednesday.
The congregation and friends of the diocese would also be treated to a fun-filled novelty football match at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) field on Thursday.
A series of lectures and seminar has been lined up for Friday, beginning from 10.00am while prayer and praise sessions will take place in the evening, same day.
Saturday is the CMS Anniversary, to be celebrated at the Cathedral, Archdeaconries/Areas and will feature march pasts as well as other activities.
Sunday, July 28, will be the grand finale and thanksgiving service where awards will be given in honour of  active and worthy members of the diocese and friends.
