OCCIMA confirms Okpara president

In a bid to ensure effective administration of Owerri Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OCCIMA), the council has unanimously ratified Mr. Everest Okpara’s acting headship to a substantive President of the chamber, just as Barr. Tony Amadi and Chief Charles Okeke became the First and Second Deputy Presidents, respectively.
The ratification which was done during the council’s meeting held recently came barely one year after the death of its President – Dr. Igwe Christian as Mr. Okpara was then the organization’s 1st Deputy President.
The council also appointed a seven-man committee headed by Chief Odunze Brown and the chamber’s Director General Mrs. Grace Egejuru as Secretary with the mandate to organize a befitting programme for the inauguration of the new leadership and in line with the constitutional provision of South East Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA) and National Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
In his acceptance speech, Okpara, who is also the Managing Director of Everite Diagnostic Centres, expressed satisfaction for the ratification.
He expressed sadness over the death of his predecessor and prayed for God’s grace and directions to lift the chambers higher.
